My Effective Skincare Routine for My Acne-Prone Skin

Updated: 5 days ago

Welcome back to the blog.

In today's post, I'm sharing my effective skincare routine for my acne-prone skin that helps me to keep my nasty pimples away and ensure I have beautiful, fresh, clear skin.

I have oily, acne-prone skin and those of you who are in the same boat as me, know just how annoying having oily skin can be. It used to get so bad that I'd blot my face especially by my nose with tissue just to get rid of the shine.

Those days are gone!

After seeing a dermatologist I have mastered just how to take care of my skin and it looks beautiful and glowing (until that time of the month) and I no longer stress about pimples leaving dark marks on my face as much as I used to. If I could show you a picture of what my skin used to look like, I think you'd be impressed by the transformation. I'm gonna tell you what I did to get it to look clear and healthy.

I use Eucerin DermoPurifyer products for my facial cleansing routine. I love them because they feel so light and gentle on your face and leave you feeling so clean and fresh.

I wash my face with luke-warm water using Eucerin DermoPurifyer Cleansing Gel which has a nice little nozzle that pumps just the right amount of face wash onto your palm. I like to use my fingertips to massage it onto my face in circular motions doing one section of my face at a time i.e my forehead, cheeks then chin. I like to take my time and gently massage my face. Then rinse it off with luke-warm water.

By the way, I'm using Garnier Pure Active at the moment to wash my face.

Alternatively, I use the face scrub in the same way.

I then follow up with the toner from the same product range (Eucerin). I dab a small amount using a cotton pad to gently wipe my face. Guys, it feels so refreshing.

It's now time to moisturize. The Eucerin DermoPurifyer Concentrate that I'm using doesn't have and sun protection, so what I do is pump a little onto my palm then pump some sunscreen onto my palm as well them rub my palms together to mix them then apply it onto my face. You can apply them separately but that's just how I prefer to do it. The sunscreen that I'm using was also recommended by a dermatologist. I'm using Cetaphil Daylong SPF 50+ which you can actually use on your whole body.

I wash my face every night before bed; especially when I've been wearing makeup using the same face wash and toner as I did in the morning. For moisturization, I alternate between 2 creams that were dermatological prescribed which are SBR Repair Cream and Advantan.

You can buy these creams but I would suggest you talk to your dermatologist first since I myself got them with a prescription. Otherwise, you can find yourself a nice night cream to use that's perfect for your skin type. If you're unsure what's right for you then you should ask someone who knows what goes well with your skin type (mines oily hence the products in the post cater for oily skin).

When I have extra cash I like to spoil myself with a facemask also tailored towards oily skin. When I'm more on the broke side I get Garnier Pure Active which is a 3-in-1 (wash, scrub, mask) and use that daily for facial cleansing; otherwise, I like to buy the charcoal mask from The Body Shop and use it once a week.

I usually get my skincare products from clicks because they have often had a 3 for 2 special on the Eucerin products which is awesome! I get to save some cash but these products are available on Amazon if you'd like to give them a try.

So there you have it guys. That's how I keep my skin happy and healthy. Skin thrives when it's well hydrated so don't forget to drink plenty of water!

*Please consult a dermatologist if you are unsure of what's right for your skin.
