Meet the Blogger: Connie

Hey there!

Are you looking for a new blog to follow? Hungry for some inspiration? You've come to the right place.

Welcome to "Meet the Blogger". Here you'll discover a new blogger each week and hopefully find some inspiration too.

Are you ready to meet today's blogger?

Today we're "sitting down" with a blogger you're probably already familiar with; give a warm welcome to Connie of Earth to Connie.

Connie is a travel and lifestyle blogger born in the United Kingdom. Starting earthtoconnie.com as a platform to gain writing experience, she is beginning to put the steps in place to turn it into her full-time income. 2020 is the year Connie quits her full-time job and becomes a digital nomad working as a Virtual Assistant and Web Developer from her laptop.

Sup Connie? Glad you've come to join us!

What inspires you to write/blog and where do you get your ideas from?

I was inspired to start a blog for two reasons. The first is that I had always wanted to become a writer in one form or another and when I was in my second year of university it was suggested that I start a blog by a careers counsellor for a little bit of experience. When I started my blog, I would write about absolutely anything however now I have finely tuned it into mostly writing about travel. This is the second reason I was inspired to write a blog. Growing up I was mesmerised by watching travel YouTubers and I was constantly jealous of their lifestyles. Now I have grown up and can begin to put things in place to travel full time, I wanted to share my journey along the way.

Besides blogging, what else do you enjoy doing/what are your hobbies?

I love making videos and creative writing. I just love being creative really and I enjoy any hobby that has that creative outlet.

How do you manage time to run your blog efficiently? Are you using any apps to assist you and which ones?

Currently, I am not managing my time to run my blog well at all. In the past I have used management apps such as Hootsuite and Tailwind however, they are for social media only. Sharing your content and writing content are two completely different ball games.

What is your biggest fear?

My biggest fear is growing old and not experiencing half of the things I set out to experience.

If you could have any superpower what would you choose and why?

The power of invisibility. I love the idea of being a fly on the wall of people's conversations. Call me nosey, but I am a massive people watcher.

Who are some of your favourite bloggers and why?

I have so many favourite bloggers. My favourite thing is to follow bloggers who are just starting out and watch their progress. There are too many excellent bloggers to be able to pick.

What have been your biggest achievements so far; in blogging and life?

I would say one of my biggest life achievements has been surviving university. University was not the best time of my life, I really struggled with my mental health and I couldn’t wait for it to be over.

What did you want to be when you were younger and what are you now? Are you enjoying it and why?

When I was younger my dream was to write novels. Currently, I am between jobs setting up my own virtual assistant business. I am hopeful that once I have the freedom of being self-employed and I have traveled a bit, I will have the time and the stories to turn into a novel.

What would you say is the biggest challenge facing young women today?

I think that it is easy to doubt yourself and compare yourself to other people who you may think are a lot more successful than you. It’s important to remember that everyone’s life and story unravels at different times.

What is the most difficult challenge you've ever had to overcome and how did you overcome it?

This is a hard question. I would probably have to say continuing with university for three years even though I just wanted to drop out. After a year or so I just started to take every day as it came and tried to put looming deadlines to the back of my head.

I hope you guys have enjoyed our little "sit-down" with Connie and I'd like to say a big thank you to her for taking part in the series. This has been a fun interview and I feel like we really have gotten to know the woman behind the blog a little better, wouldn't you agree.
