If you love personal stories and are looking for a fresh perspective on everyday things then you've come to the right place.
Who is Weird & Liberated?
I am a young lady from a small city in South Africa called East London; where I have spent almost the entirety of my life.
I come from a small family of 4 and I am the eldest of 2 daughters with a gorgeous and brilliant sister that is 6 years younger than me. She is also quite creative and is a great artist. My sister is the most supportive and encouraging person in my life and we are quite close. Yes, the age gap is quite wide but she is my best friend. She may be significantly younger than me but she is one of the best people I have ever met in life. She is the most supportive and fearless people I know and has never let anyone tell her who she is or how she should be which is what I admire about her the most. She is the one person that has always allowed me to be and truly embraced who I am. In fact, she was the one who encouraged me to create this blog, if it wasn't for my sister you guys might never have "met" me.
I dropped out of university in 2013 and as disappointed as I was that it did not turn out the way I thought it would; it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. I know it might sound strange and honestly, I was torn up about it for a really long time it helped me to find myself and really dig deep and discover who I am and what I really want from life. I actually started blogging sometime in 2012 when I was really depressed and neede someone to talk to about things that I felt I couldn't share with anyone around me. Back then the things I wrote about were really dark and just not good and the blog was a "dear diary" type of thing. Some of you might know me as "Weird20Something". Around 2017 I logged into my site again and completely revamped it and Weird & Liberated was born. The "Liberated" stemming from my new positive attitude and my new lease on life.
My blog is inspired by events and experiences in my life and contains quite a few personal stories that have shaped me into the woman I am today. I am hoping that you guys can learn from some of my mistakes and do better than I did. Back when I was going through the things I've written about I felt alone and I am hoping that some of you guys who read my posts can relate and hopefully if you go through similar situations I can help shed a little light and help you through them.
My posts are really random. I don't sit and plan my blog posts like I see many bloggers do and that sums up the kind of person I am in general. I am spontaneous by nature, find it difficult to stick to any sort of routine and when an idea pops into my head; whether it's somewhere I want to go or something to do, if I have the means I get up and do it there and then.
I love writing and this was something that became pretty clear to me in high school. I loved English because we would get to write essays and I would spend days writing and editing and re-writing them and I enjoyed the whole process. There is no greater feeling than seeing your ideas and stories coming to life on paper.
This site is aimed at young adults, specifically woman as they are the ones who can relate the most to my stories and experiences. Think of me as the sister you never had...
I have this awesome series on the blog called "Meet the Blogger" where I interview fellow bloggers form all genres and corners of the globe not just lifestyle bloggers like me. You should definitely check it out and discover some new and talented bloggers to follow.
In case you were wondering and it wasn't obvious, I am in my 20's. My life has not gone according to plan but I believe that if one stays positive and keeps pushing, they will get to wherever they are supposed to be eventually.
